India has added 17 crore jobs between 2017–18 and 2023–24, with a notable surge in women’s workforce participation. Employment rose to 64.33 crore, while the unemployment rate dropped to 3.2%. Formal employment, wages, and self-employment also grew, driven by government schemes and sectoral shifts. Key initiatives are supporting skilling, women’s inclusion, and job creation across both rural and urban areas, marking a significant transformation in India’s labour market.
